Dear colleagues and friends,
It is my great privilege to invite you at the 46th ISHP Congress 2024, organized by the International Society for the History of Pharmacy (ISHP) in collaboration with the Section for the History of Pharmacy
of the Pharmaceutical Association of Serbia. The congress will be held from the 4th to the 7th of September 2024 in Belgrade, Serbia. During the almost hundred years of ISHP’s history, annual congresses have been major events for the exchange of thoughts and ideas related to the history of pharmacy.
The 46th ISHP Congress will be organized around the topic of Pharmaceutical Profession and Society: Roots, Development and Lessons for the Future. This overall theme will be developed in plenary sessions with high-level keynotes as well as throughout all the sessions in the event. Many distinguished scholars proficient in the field of pharmacy, medicine and history of science from all over the world have already accepted to be involved in this event by giving lectures.
Participating at the Congress is an excellent opportunity to be involved at the expert panel discussion on present challenges and future of the History of Pharmacy as an academic discipline. Traditionally the ISHP Congress will host a ceremonial meeting of the International Academy for the History of Pharmacy. Young practitioners, undergraduates and PhD students, in particular will have space to share their experiences. Social events at the Congress will give you chance to enjoy some of the most valuable cultural and historical spots of the Belgrade tourist map.
In short, participation at the Congress offers excellent opportunities not just to share your work but also to learn from the latest research. In addition, to network with experts and colleagues, and to expand your professional horizons and open new avenues for future research. Abstract submission for the 46th ISHP Congress 2024 is open from the 1st of March until the 30th of May 2024.

Dear Colleagues and Friends,
I am delighted to welcome you to the 46th International Congress of the History of Pharmacy in Belgrade, Serbia, from September 4 to 7, 2024. Under the theme “Pharmaceutical Profession and Society: Roots, Development, and Lessons for the Future,” this congress promises to be a milestone event, notably as the first of its kind in Serbia.
Since its inception in 1926, the International Society for the History of Pharmacy has been at the forefront of exploring and preserving our profession’s history. Our annual congresses have become pivotal platforms for scholarly exchange and international collaboration.
This year, we gather in a city with a deep pharmaceutical heritage, dating back to the 17th century. We are also privileged to explore the History of Pharmacy Museum at the University of Belgrade, home to an invaluable pharmaco-historiographic collection.
As we convene, we anticipate engaging discussions, learning from esteemed scholars, and reflecting on our profession’s journey. This congress is more than a reflection on our past; it’s a guiding light for our future.
